From Chapter 16 the two significant events that I chose are the Dawes Act and the Wounded Knee Massacre. These both events show the attitude of the west regarding the Indians or the Native Americans. They were never treated as equals by the Americans and not even considered citizens. Their traditions were being lost and they were being forced to shift to the lands granted by the government so that America can expand.
